This work explores the structure of a personality that once sealed away its innocent core in order to survive without breaking.
“To protect it with an even greater force,
for now, goodbye.”
Within these seemingly contradictory words lives the memory of a childlike defense:
not protecting by holding closer,
but protecting by letting go.
Originally, protection was meant to be something gentle —
something that embraces.
But a heart that felt too deeply could no longer continue touching the world as it was.
So the self buried away:
the ability to feel too much,
to be free,
to become absorbed in wonder,
to exist without defense.
Here, “play” does not simply mean entertainment.
It means creating.
Laughing without reason.
Being moved naturally by life itself.
It is the spontaneity of existence.
Yet in order to survive,
people slowly begin to prioritize adaptation:
being correct,
reading the atmosphere,
being useful,
avoiding hurt.
And little by little,
the inner ability to “play” begins to freeze.
That is why the quiet inner voice asking,
“Maybe… can I play again soon?”
may actually be asking:
“Is it okay for me to exist?”
Throughout the work appear symbols such as
the sun,
the moon,
sperm and egg,
fertilization,
planets,
and umbilical cord–like lines.
These forms drift like fragments of a memory from before birth.
And what remains in the end is a small,
yet undeniable pressure of existence:
“My core wants to come outside again.”
This work portrays the moment when
a once-sealed life force of play
begins to hatch once more.
